Going back to School is such an exciting time for the kids. Well, most kids. Some dread it every S I N G L E year because of various reasons.
We understand many of those reasons and are excited to say that this year, thanks to your faithful support and generosity we helped over 430 children go back to school by giving them many of the basic supplies they will need on a daily basis.
Because you gave, tweeted, shared on Facebook and other social media outlets, these bags were PACKED to the brim!
It was very exciting to do because financial donations were down a little this year but we stretched every penny and in the Spreading Joy mindset (doing what we can with what we have) we made a difference for these families.
Thanks to you there were mile wide smiles, screams of “the backpacks are here! The backpacks are here!” and other crazy giggles and hugs!
I wish you could have seen little kids handing bags to other little kids.
I wish you could have heard the giggles!
I wish you could have heard the 2 year old say “I’m going to give out backpacks” as she made driving noises while pretending to drive my car.
You did this! Y O U! Thank you!
Your generous hearts provided 10 pencils for each child! T E N! We know how they disappear and always want to give as many as we can. You also gave 5 pens! Yes… FIVE! You gave glue in the forms of stick and bottle. You gave a box of 24 count crayons, a box of 12 Coloring Pencils, 2 Plastic folders, 3 spiral notebooks, 1 pack of loose filler paper, eraser, a highlighter and of course the bag itself.
That is 27 items in each bag! T W E N T Y S E V E N!!!!
Guess what else you did? You’ll never guess in a million years, so I’ll tell you!
You helped to re-stock a West Virginia Distribution Center with School Supplies. YES you did!
We got there and the head dude asked what we were donating and I told him, his EYES Lit Up! His smile was ginormous and he was shaking his head with relief! He honestly felt that they would run out of supplies for the kids on Saturday. We left them hundreds (cases and cases) of spiral notebooks, hundreds of pens, hundreds of pencils, plastic folders and glue.
We had a handful of bags and took them as well.
Thank you for investing in these children! Thank you for giving when you probably didn’t have a ton to give in the first place. Thank you for knowing that $10-$20 bucks goes such a long way for families in need. Thank you for partnering with us! You may not know this but none of your financial gifts went to a salary. None. Everyone, including myself, volunteers for Spreading Joy. I make monthly donations to cover all the administrative costs so that everything you give, less the paypal fees can impact hearts just like this.

Thanks Miheala! With bullying on the rise we don’t want children to be bullied because of lack of supplies. We try to encourage children in schools as we are allowed.

What an absolute blessing to those kids and families! It’s crazy how much school supplies cost and when you multiply it by several children when their families are already having financial struggles, it can be overwhelming. How fortunate they are to have such loving people in their lives.
It must have been a delightful sight. What a blessing to be a part of this.
