Be The Message Devotional

Be The Message

A 30-Day Adventure in changing the world around you by Kerry and Chris Shook

This delightful devotional was given to me by Family Christian Bookstores in exchange for an honest review.  I’m so glad that I was chosen to review it as it goes right along with everything we believe here at Spreading Joy!

be the message

This 30 Day adventure invites you to:

Open yourself daily,

Open God’s Word daily,

Open your mind daily,

Open your heart daily,

Open your life daily and then last but certainly not least, you are invited to

Open your arms daily.

Each invitation is filled with thought provoking questions and suggestions to help you to Be the Message and to do so with little effort.

So many people have a desire to make a difference and to do more but they simply don’t know where or how to start.

This devotional is designed to help you move beyond words and to put in action what your heart desires to do!

So many people have a desire to change the world but quickly get discouraged when they fall short.  This devotional helps you to take the steps each day to change the world around you! Start with your corner of the world and start for 30 days.  Those goals are attainable and you’ll soon move past discouragement and onward to ways to Be the Message in ways that only you can do!

I hope you’ll get this book and read it! I hope you’ll take time daily to move beyond words and take action. I hope you’ll pick up this unique devotional and take the 30-Day Challenge!

Favorite Quotes:

  • Your life-changing interaction with Jesus may start in a small, quiet room, but it moves out to a world that desperately needs to connect with Him.
  • Bare yourself to God. Put down your masks. Let God see the real you, and let Him change you in the way He wants
  • Jesus broke down social walls in order to build a new, open structure.
  • Pull yourself away from whatever battles you are fighting these days. Call a truce and spend some peacetime here in the Lord’s presence.
  • Many of our best intentions never become realities because we never act on them.

Again, this book is full of refreshing thoughts, ideas and helps to get you going instead of having good intentions.

I am changing the world around my stepping out of my comfort zone (dying to self) and acting out God’s love instead of just reading about it or thinking on it. I know I can live out God’s love by make sacrifices to spend time with people who need someone to be there to lift them up. I can share with them all the wonderful things Jesus did for when I didn’t deserve which can give them hope.

thank you for taking the time to let us know this!! YOU have just inspired other who are afraid of stepping out of their comfort zone too! we think so many great things but it actually takes courage to make it happen!!

We all are stressed for time so taking the time to be with someone who needs some encouragement is huge and not taken lightly!

thanks for taking the time to encourage everyone who stops by!

Marie, I definitely think that one of the first steps in changing the world around you is by changing your world first; becoming the best you that you can possibly offer to God and to others.

This looks like a really great devotional! I really love this quote: “Pull yourself away from whatever battles you are fighting these days. Call a truce and spend some peacetime here in the Lord’s presence.”

      Sam,

I saw a sign today that I want to send to my daughter in love (a teacher also) that says it takes a great big heart to teach little souls or something to that affect.

Thank you for all that you do in public schools and in the youth group!

First of all, thank you for doing book reviews! I can’t wait to read this one! As God has led us into fostering a young woman with autism, I’m learning to lay myself before the Lord. I need Him to change my heart and do His work in me- I didn’t realize how impatient I really am at the core. It’s easy to be loving to those who are loving- much more challenging when someone doesn’t return that love. 🙂 I want to learn to BE the message. hugs and blessings Marie-

      Cindy,

There is never enough time for good books. 🙂

I think we all struggle with that at times. I know I can come of short and snappy at times. Thanks for adding to this conversation and for being the message right where you are!
