Spreading Joy has a couple of annual events we do each year. One of them is our Christmas Joy event where we bring in Children and their Moms for a Christmas Bash! This cannot be done without your help or people volunteering so before I get started, I just want to say thank you again to those that give financially, share on Social Media and come volunteer in person.
At every volunteer meeting I always tell people “If you see a need, meet it. You don’t need my permission to do something, just make it happen.”
This is the heart and soul of what we do. We meet needs.
During the few days before our last event, I saw a need that I couldn’t un-see. After some preparation for Christmas Joy that night, the Mr. and I drove an hour to verify the need. A single mom sleeping in her car with two small children. Just a week and a half before Christmas.
Needless to say it was a long drive back. My mind was racing and I wished I had all the money in the world to fix this.
My heart was broken for them.
After finding her and verifying her situation, we came home and decided to do what we could for her. Someone had already put her and her children in a hotel and was helping her find housing.
They needed CHRISTMAS. I reached out to the generous hearts in a Facebook group and people stepped up immediately. I had a list of toys her children wanted and every single item on there was found and purchased. Even a Baby Alive – 50 miles away. Amazing!
The gifts were wrapped in their favorite wrapping paper, Frozen and Wrestling.
Thanks to the amazing hearts of Verizon Wireless, I was even able to give her a brand new Smart Phone! A top of the Line Droid!
Others donated furniture, clothing, food and even a couple months of cellular service.
Even though the week preceding our Christmas Joy event is the busiest week of my life, we still took the time to meet the need that was right in front of us.
Did I wonder if what we were doing would be enough? Yes.
Did I wonder what would happen afterwards? Yes.
Did I let that stop us from making a difference? No.
Doing what you can with what you have IS absolutely Spreading Joy to others and doing so unconditionally. Don’t focus on what you don’t have or can’t do. Reach out like we did and ask others to help. 99% of people have ginormous hearts and would love to make a difference in this way.
Thank you to the amazing hearts that met up with me and the Mr. during this week to bring Christmas to this Family.

My husband and I were talking about helping with needs just this week. Our pastor has such a heart for others. This week he purchased an air condition for a family without. We were having high temperatures and I can’t imagine how it would be to be without aircondition. Mother Theresa said, “Not all of us can do great things, but we can do small things with great love.”
so True Pamela. Even meeting one need is better than just thinking about it. It doesn’t matter the size or value – it matter that we did something for someone.

What a powerful post and amazing story! Doing what we can to spread the joy of the lord s o they may know his love. This is what God wants us to do as believers. It is encouraging to me to know there are other believers who reach out and choose to love and not judge.
Love is action. When we choose to love we are able to pierce the darkest times for those in need and allow amazing light to fill their hearts with hope and love

Love what you said- if you see a need, MEET IT. Time to rise up and help others.

This should be a simple concept, but so many people seem to miss it. Thanks for spreading the joy!

so many people miss out because they want to do more, give more and yet something they see as small is ginormous to those in need.
