Back 2 School 2010

Right now we have been given a Matching Grant of $1000.00! All donations made up to that amount will be matched! Your $50.00 gift is instantly turned into $100.00! Thank you for giving as generously as you can!

For many children, going back to school is so exciting and full of great satisfaction and joy.  For others, it is anything but joyful.  It is actually shameful, embarrassing and full of dread.  These children can’t afford the new clothes, new shoes or even the basic school supplies needed to start the new school year with pride, hope and great expectations.

Spreading Joy has a desire to give 1,000 children the chance to start the year off with the necessary supplies, but we know we can’t do it alone.

Searching for Spreading Joy Heroes that will step up, reach out and help someone that can’t help themselves, that can’t say thank you and that may never even know who helped them.  This takes a special kind of hero.  One that doesn’t care about thanks, glory or receiving any kind of rewards from the recipient.  A hero that just loves knowing in his heart of hearts that he has done something for someone else AND has made a difference.  This requires compassion.

We would love to give 1000 children the following items:

• Spiral Notebook
• Ruler
• Glue (in bottle)
• Glue Stick
• Pack of Pencils
• Pack of Pens
• Bottle of Hand sanitizer
• Pack of Colored Pencils
• Pencil Sharpener
• Pack of Loose Leaf Notebook Paper
• Highlighter
• 2 Pocket Folders
• Pack of Index Cards
• Pencil Holder

This requires a budget of approximately $20,000.  Again, we know we can not do this alone.  We need your help as this is a huge undertaking.  Will you work with us? Will you spread the word, by emailing people you know, asking your company to pitch in.  You could check and see if your organization does a company match program to charities and your gift will be doubled.  Can you give what you can – whatever gift that is?  $20.00 fills one book bag.  Can you donate enough for 1 book bag, or even 20 book bags?

Do you know someone at an office store that might donate some items? Do you have ties in the PaperMate world? Do you know someone who does?  If you can’t donate, use your voice.  Will you help us?  Will you make a difference, using what you have, right where you are?

Your heart will be flooded with joy as you make a difference for these wonderful children.

Here is a reminder of the Back to School event from last year.  800 Children received bags of supplies. (Not book bags, but regular bags)  We can reach new heights this year with a little help from our friends!
