Everyone desires to make a difference in this world. From the youngest to the oldest of us – it’s how we are made; it’s at the core of us all – helping others, giving to others and making others smile.
We tend to let guilt win out because we can’t help everyone that presents a need and then foolishly, we decide to do nothing.
Let me remind you that even when you can’t do all that you want to do – do what you can!
I found out about several young boys that wanted to play football but couldn’t afford the $100 fee. I wanted to help them all out, but knowing that everything that was in the Spreading Joy funds were already designated for Back to School I quickly figured out that helping them all wasn’t going to happen.
There were enough non designated funds to help one. Just one. So, that is exactly what we did.
I gladly wrote the check to sponsor ONE of the boys that would allow him to play.
What I didn’t know is that his mother has cancer and is not able to work. His father works two jobs just to support the family with their basic needs.
This was truly a gift to this young man as well as his family! A huge gift and blessing!
Thank you for how you care and how you help us throughout the year with our events.
If you’d like to be added to a list of those that I can directly contact for help when situations arise like this, please email me and let me know. I’d love to be able to sponsor 5 young men next season….or even more. I’ll never abuse the honor of being able to contact you and will always be thankful for any size gift – even if it’s just $5.
Will you consider a monthly gift to Spreading Joy so we can do more like this?
When you feel like “your little bit” doesn’t matter….remember this family and how helping just one made all the difference in the world!
Have fun spreading joy and doing what you can, where you are with what you have!
