Sometimes you may feel like David, crying out in the wilderness.
Issue after issue, time after time and regardless what the day brings or how hard you try, sometimes there is just no stopping the tears.
Disappointment, discouragement and frustrations seem to pile up and heap up like a giant mountain.
Just as David did in the Psalms, you cry out “WHEN Lord?? When?”
Wave after wave of hurt comes through and you wonder how you’ll make it. You wonder if the next blow will be the one to knock you out or not. You continue to search through the Psalms wondering….When Lord…when.
WHEN?
May I remind you (and myself) that we will make it through “this” – whatever this is right now?
Repeat after me:
GOD is all powerful, all knowing and loves me more than life itself
God shows us miracle after miracle in the Bible…so I have to remember that HE is the same today, yesterday and forever!
When Trouble finds me – I will remember….
- The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them; he delivers them from all their troubles. The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. A righteous man may have many troubles, but the Lord delivers him from them all. Psalm 34:17-19
- Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Deuteronomy 31:6
- As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than you ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.” Isaiah 55:9
- My soul is weary with sorrow, strengthen me according to your word. Psalm 119:28
- Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him – James 1:2-5
When trouble finds you, where do you turn?
A prayer for you –
Lord, thank you that when we are where we don’t want to be, experiencing what wouldn’t choose to experience and dealing with things that we would never consider dealing with that you are our stronghold, our refuge and strength through everything! We trust you Lord, we Love you Lord. In Jesus Name Amen
What do you do? What verses do you hide closest to your heart or do you search the scriptures filling your heart with verse after verse of God’s promises?

As I think about the last time I was thoroughly overwhelmed with sorrow over the circumstances surrounding me, I realize that while it was not fun, my heart bonded with two other women also walking through this difficult time. We were friends before, but now we are treasured sisters. We enjoyed each other before, but now we love each other in such a way that we know cannot easily be shaken. I wouldn’t have chosen that time, but I am so thankful for the blessing of my sisters. And I don’t know that we’d ever have become as close as we are without having walked through that trial together.

Marie, I turn to the One who has held my hurting heart and filled me with hope. I’m so thankful God allowed us to see the details of David’s life. The good and the awful. Many blessings to you!

@lux thank you for stopping by and letting me know this encouraged you!
@deb – I am too! I love that God allows us to see that a man after his own heart cried out so much and failed in a big way but that still… God was always faithful!
@buife – thank you – sobering fact that God takes the time to be with us no matter what. He doesn’t have to – He just wants to.
thanks

I find that waiting on an answer from the Lord is the hardest thing to do so that’s why I wrote this article on “11 Verses on Waiting on the Lord.” (http://raisingsamuels.blogspot.com/2015/01/11-verses-on-waiting.html)
I love that you put scripture in this article. It can be very trying when we are hit with discouragement but God has a way of turning these bad days into good results. Prayers and blessings to you! #BloggerCareGroup

What a great dose of encouragement! Between counseling the hurting, and studying Ezekiel and the wrath of God against the unrighteous….I needed a lift! Thank you for providing the spoonfull of Scripture, the Balm of Gilead that soothes and enriches our souls!

Marie,
You are an encourager. Life is so hard at times and people need encourages like you! Thank you! This post reminds me of the book of Job as well. Job has become one of my sacred friends and one I can’t wait to meet one day!
Our God is a God who never fails us nor forsakes us…
God is our peace in the storm, I am finding that with practice my reaction time to choosing Him first instead of worrying, fretting or being discouraged is getting quicker. I look forward to the day when it’s my default. Praise God for His sanctifying power and changing our hearts and minds through and through.
This is a post that many Christians need to read! My GOD! My GOD! This is so poignant & on time. Some days it feels like the weighty of what HE called you to do is to much and yet you want to press forward, but you feel alone…but you aren’t!
Thank you for the reminder!
Oh how I needed this! You are right. God knows. He is my strength and shield in every storm. Whew sometimes it’s so hard though
